ITALIAN restaurant chain Carluccio’s is the latest high street name to put a rescue plan to its creditors in a last ditch attempts to save the business.
The company, which opened a new restaurant in York’s St Helen’s Square just last year alongside its existing concession in Fenwick, announced its creditors have approved a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).
The move puts 500 jobs at risk as the arrangement is understood to include the closure of 30 restaurants, although exact locations are yet to be disclosed.
Carluccio’s said it was relocating staff to remaining outlets where possible and would try to keep job losses at a minimum.
Mark Jones, chief executive of Carluccio’s, said: “We now look forward to a positive future and the on-going development of the Carluccio’s business
Other restaurants that have undertaken CVAs this year include Byron, Prezzo and Jamie’s Italian, alongside retailer New Look.
