THE first planning applications for the York Central redevelopment could appear within months, it has been confirmed.

The six-week Festival of York Central ended in late April, and the partnership behind it say they received more than 2,200 feedback forms and more than 3,700 comments at a public exhibition.

They have thanked York people for taking part, and said they will have an initial planning application ready this summer.

Tamsin Hart-Jones, project lead from the York Central Partnership, said: “It has been really positive hearing the constructive feedback provided by so many people.

“Community engagement has been an important part of our process so far and will continue to play a central role as we move forwards to the next step. We are now in the process of analysing all of the comments provided throughout the festival and exploring how these can inform and influence the masterplan that we submit in the summer.”

Helen Graham is part of the My Future York team that ran the consultation. She said conversations and contributions had come up with “a rich range of creative and innovative ideas” for the site.

“There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved as the project moves forwards and we’re looking forward to continuing our work with the partnership and the people of York,” she added.

After an initial planning application proposed for the summer the partnership will start looking for development partners for the first phase of work.
