UNEMPLOYMENT in Yorkshire and The Humber is at its lowest since 2005, standing now at just 126,000, according to latest Government statistics.
Jenny Shaw, employer and partnership manager at York and Ryedale Jobcentres, said the number of people in employment in the region had risen by 57,000 in the latest quarter to a record high of 2.59 million.
She said that in York, Jobcentres were currently working with many employers in the hospitality and retail sectors, including The Range, Poundland, Dunelm and Travelodge.
