DEMOLITION work has begun on Parliament Street fountain, with council bosses saying the landmark will be gone within a fortnight.
The decision to get rid of the fountain was confirmed in April and engineers have started to remove the structure before they re-lay the stone around it.
A temporary floral display is set to be constructed in its place while plans for the future of the site are drawn up.
Work will take place from 8am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.
