EAST Riding of Yorkshire Council is warning drivers that overnight resurfacing work will be starting soon on the A166 westbound at Garrowby Hill.

The work will start on May 21 and will see Garrowby Hill closed to all traffic heading towards York between 7pm and 6am Monday to Friday for five weeks, weather permitting. Eastbound traffic will not be affected.

The council said the road closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the workforce.

The work is the final stage of the larger improvement scheme along the A166, costing £1.9 million in total.

Prior to the work on Garrowby Hill, localised damaged areas of the A166 through Wetwang and towards Fridaythorpe will be repaired. These works are scheduled to be carried out between 7pm and midnight, starting early next week, and will last for up to one week.
