A BATTERY-POWERED child’s toy started a fire that needed three fire crews to put out.
The blaze started in the spare bedroom of the house in Linton on Ouse shortly after noon yesterday.
It set off smoke alarms in the property which alerted the household and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service was called out.
Crews from York, Huntington and Easingwold dealt with the blaze which they managed to restrict to the bedroom.
The toy was in a removal box which was completely destroyed. The room suffered minor damage.
Firefighters believe the blaze was started by an electrical fault in the toy.
