TWO men were arrested after a police chase ended with part of the A64 being closed.
North Yorkshire Police said a black Toyota Auris failed to stop for officers at about 6.10pm on Monday evening on the eastbound carriageway of the A64 near Tadcaster.
The chase continued into York, then back onto the westbound carriageway of the A64, until police deployed a 'stinger' device to puncture the tyres of the Auris, then made tactical contact with the car.
A 24-year-old man from Bradford was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop, dangerous driving, drug driving and possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.
A 21-year-old man from Bradford was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.
The westbound carriageway was closed for some time while the scene was investigated, and the two men remain in custody at this time.
