VINTAGE milk floats have been spotted in York as part of a celebration of the British lifestyle brand Cath Kidston's 25th birthday.

The publicity stunt to mark the anniversary came ahead of National Tea Day today, Saturday, with floats decorated in signature Cath Kidston prints delivering complimentary fresh milk and tea packs.

They were spotted in St Helen’s Square and Shambles, stopping along the way in residential streets, as part of a week-long tour of Britain.

Cath Kidston, which has a store on Stonegate in York, was established in 1993, in London’s Holland Park, and has become synonymous with classic British design and nostalgic style, famous for its unique floral prints and bright, playful patterns.

On National Tea Day, a number of Cath Kidston stores will be opening their doors to customers and passers-by, inviting them for a complimentary cuppa.

Xenia Xenophontos, head of communications at Cath Kidston, said: “As a brand that is dedicated to brightening up people’s day, we are always looking for fun ways to bring that mission to life. Over the last 25 years, Cath Kidston has become known for classic British design and nostalgic style and it is our hope that these milk floats encourage the nation to tap into those happy and evocative memories and join us in celebrating with a great cup of tea.”
