BOOK lovers in York are being invited to celebrate World Book Night this month.
The event on Monday, April 23 is put on to celebrate reading, and to give books to those who don't read regularly.
In York the city's libraries are encouraging book lovers to help share their love of reading. People are asked to give a copy of their own favourite books to Bookcase For All to pass on to a homeless or vulnerable person. They could also donate a new copy of your favourite book to the library, encourage someone to join the library, or join the World Book Night community on reading website Goodreads, to tell everyone which books they would give to inspire a love of reading. Finally, library staff and volunteers are also recommending books that have inspired them, and all libraries in the city will have displays of books that have been recommended by their staff and volunteers.
Bookcase for All is a York initiative that gives books to homeless or vulnerable people – details are online at acrimereadersblog.com/bookcase-for-all.
