A YORK supermarket is undergoing a major revamp after celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The Morrisons store in Foss Islands Road will remain open during the refurbishment, which will mainly take place at night and is set to be completed by the end of May.

Store community champion Wendy Davis said there would be as little disruption as possible during the project, which would result in several new features, including a barista bar created in an area near the store entrance and an expanded Nutmeg clothing range.

There would also be a dedicated party shop section, which she said would appeal particularly to the store's many student customers.

She said it was hoped some celebrities would join staff and customers for the store re-launch on Thursday May 31.
