WE may be in for a wet and windy weekend. But there are definite signs of spring in the air - at least in the majority of our photographs from members of The Press Camera Club this week.
Whether it is crocuses in Dean’s Park, wild birds out looking for seed or a frisky meerkat, the photographs suggest that the long, late winter may at last be running its course. Which isn’t to say there won’t be a last flurry of snow...
Paul Greenwood’s ‘Here’s looking at you’ is a wonderful face-off with a gimlet-eyed gannet at Bempton Cliffs. Karen Gilks’ nuthatch is all speed and eagerness, while Jon Noble’s pin-sharp image of a finch homing in on nuts laid on a post is a great example of the nature photographer’s patient art. How long did he have to wait to get that?
It is Anne Chantry’s cheeky chappie sporting a tweed cap that wins hands down in the puppyish appeal stakes, though. When in Yorkshire... Anne called it. Brilliant.
Next week we’ll be revealing the winners of the March #streetlife competition. But there’s still plenty of time between now and the end of the month to get your entry in, if you haven’t already done so...
