MALTON in Ryedale has been named among the best places to live in Britain.
Schools, jobs, community spirit, local shops, culture and broadband speed, are some of the factors used to compile the list of top locations to live.
The accolade comes ahead of the full reveal of The Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide on Sunday, March 18
Ten locations in the north and northeast are in the list which has named Tynemouth, Northumberland, as the Best Place to Live in the North and Northeast.
The methodology uses robust statistics, and personal experience and insight from an expert panel.
The list also looks at average house prices and rental costs, sourced from Countrywide.
The average cost of starter homes in Malton is said to be £125,870 (or £420 rent pcm), with mid-market homes priced at £210,010 (£720 pcm) and family homes at £367,930 (£1,070 pcm).
Five new entries in the North and Northeast include the Leeds suburb of Chapel Allerton, and Wetherby, " a handsome Georgian market town with a real sense of community and picturesque water meadows for walking the dog".
