MORE than a hundred properties in two North Yorkshire villages have been affected by power cuts.
Northern Powergrid said an unplanned cut in the Tollerton area, near Easingwold, had been reported at 10.58am today, affecting about 70 customers, and power was expected to be restored by 11pm tonight.
It said: "Our team are working hard to restore your power as quickly as possible," adding that the cut had been caused by an unexpected problem with the electricity cable serving the area.
The company said another unplanned cut had hit 60 customers in the Crayke area, on the other side of Easingwold.
The problem was reported at 4.39pm and was caused by an unexpected problem with the cables or equipment serving the area.
It said power had been restored to some of the customers affected and should be restored to everyone by 10pm.
