A MAN was taken to hospital after the car he was driving crashed into a tree in Ryedale.
Police were called to the scene of the collision, at the junction of the A170 and B1257 in Sproxton, at about 7.30pm yesterday. Fire and ambulance crews also attended.
It involved a Volkswagen Scirocco.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said: "The driver was taken to hospital by ambulance. The vehicle was recovered and scene cleared by 9.55pm."
North Yorkshire fire service added that no-one was trapped in the car and one man was in the care of paramedics when a fire crew arrived.
The crew made the car safe using hand tools.
