DRIVERS have been urged to expect new delays on the A19 near York this week, as part of ongoing roadworks.
City of York Council has introduced new off-peak traffic restrictions on the A19 at Crockey Hill from this week, as part of an effort to improve "the major traffic pinch-point", by widening the southern area of the junction.
From Monday, three-way traffic lights and single lane traffic will be in place between 10am and 3.30pm.
Access to Wheldrake Lane will be maintained, except for the ‘no right turn’ from the A19 restrictions which have been in place throughout the works.
A council spokesman said this was "likely to be the most disruptive phase of the road improvements and will last for up to three weeks".
The spokesman said: "Some disruption is inevitable and travellers are urged to plan ahead, allow more time for journeys, and consider alternative travel arrangements."
