YORK Army Museum is staging a free talk as part of York Residents' Weekend on January 27 and 28, when locals can visit many attractions and venues for free.
The talk entitled The Half-Shilling Curate tells the story oft the Reverend Herbert Butler Cowl, one of the first Wesleyan army chaplains to receive the Military Cross for exemplary gallantry.
Hear from his granddaughter, author Sarah Reay, on the Saturday at 4.30pm and discover more about Herbert's experience of the Great War.
Admission to the talk is free, but tickets should be pre-booked by contacting the museum 01904 461010,or via Eventbrite.
