YOU know something is badly wrong with our health service when the senior doctors running 68 A&E departments write a public letter to the Prime Minister pleading for more funding.

The consultants - among them York Hospital’s Dr Stephen Lord - say they have ‘very serious concerns’ for patients safety because the NHS is so ‘chronically underfunded’.

They plead with Mrs May to increase social care funding, so patients ready for discharge can be looked after in the community rather than blocking hospital beds.

These doctors see the appalling conditions patients face in A&E every day. Mrs May must listen.
