LABOUR has chosen its candidate for the York Outer parliamentary seat in the next general election.
Party members chose Cllr Fiona Derbyshire from an all-woman shortlist as the party's prospective parliamentary candidate.
She will seek to oust sitting Conservative MP Julian Sturdy who has held the seat since its creation in 2010 and who had a majority of 8,000 in June's election.
Cllr Derbyshire has been a city council councillor for the Holgate ward since 2015.
She is currently chair of the council's audit and governance committee.
