A MARIE Curie Nurse has been recognised for her work with people living with a terminal illness.
Sarah Somerville Woodiwis, from York, has been nominated in the Going the Extra Mile category in the cancer charity’s annual Peacock Awards.
Sarah decided to work for the charity after seeing the help they provided for her mother Barbara after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
She said: “I work in a team of truly amazing nurses, who all work incredibly hard and this is a wonderful reminder of the difference we make to our patients and their families.
“Following my mum’s death, I wanted to be able to give back to others, in the same way my mum had been helped during her illness.
Marie Curie Nurse Lisa Stanley, who nominated Sarah for the award, said: “Sarah gives the most compassionate care you can imagine.”
