A THANKSGIVING service will be held at Riccall Methodist Church today (TUES), to celebrate the life of the late Vic Clark.

Mr Clark died at the age of 96, last month, just days after his good friend Richard Moody.

He was a longstanding member of the local Methodist church and had lived in Station Road since 1931.

Mr Clark spent his working life with British Road Services in Selby, York and Harrogate. During the Second World War he served in the Army as a RADAR technician, stationed on the south coast of England, and later in India.

A keen follower of Yorkshire Cricket Club, he regularly attended the Scarborough Cricket Festival, where he met his wife Ivy and they were married in 1968 until she died in 1993.

Retired Methodist minister Rev Morris Staton said: β€œHe was Mr Riccall Methodist Church, our spiritual father, and we all loved him.”

A private cremation was held earlier this month, and the thanksgiving service starts at 2pm and is open to all.
