THOUSANDS of people descended on a North Yorkshire seaside town this weekend, for an annual celebration of Goth costume and culture.
The Whitby Goth Weekend saw people visit from around the world, bringing with them a variety of costumes - from the racy and revealing, to the sombre and mysterious, and the steampunk mix of technology and history.
The Gothic attraction to the town dates back to 1890, when Dracula author Bram Stoker stayed there, using it as inspiration for his most famous creation, and the festival dates back to the early 1990s.
It is now essentially an alternative music festival with live bands performing at venues around the town for visiting Goth enthusiasts.
