A WOMAN who is tracing the history of Britain on a 2,500 mile hike has reached York.
Jane Batchelor, 37, has set out on the country’s longest historical trail, which takes in 5,000 years of history, major events, historical figures and important moments, dating back as far as the Stone Age.
Jane started her journey in the Shetland Isles and will end it in London.
Earlier this month, she visited Yorkshire as part of her pilgrimage, stopping in York as part of the route, and found herself among historic company.
She said: “I was in York for four days and camped out at Stamford Bridge with the Vikings. I was intending on carrying on walking, but spoke to everyone and their dog at that event, and was invited to stay. It was amazing, even in my tiny little one man tent.”
