JUST when you thought it was safe to go back into the cinema, or rather, the York Barbican, here comes Jaws in a special screening accompanied by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.
Steven Spielberg’s shark-attack blockbuster from 1975 will be shown across the country next spring, including the Barbican on April 8, each performance featuring the Czech musicians performing John Williams’s Academy Award-winning score live and in sync with the Universal Studios film. The regional tour follows four successful performances at the Royal Albert Hall last weekend, as well as numerous engagements in the United States.
Based on Peter Benchley's novel, Spielberg's suspenseful film tells the tale of a small New England seaside community being terrorised by a predatory great white shark. On its release in the summer of 1975, Jaws (12A) became the most successful movie of all time and Spielberg has often credited Williams’s score with much of its success.
Tickets go on sale on Friday at 9am at £31.35 to £62.15 at yorkbarbican.co.uk, gigsandtours.com and ticketmaster.co.uk; on 0844 854 2757 or in person from the Barbican box office.
