PUPILS at a North Yorkshire school have been given high visibility wristbands to help keep them safe as they walk to and from school on dark winter evenings.
Homebuilder Taylor Wimpey, which is behind the Broughton Manor development near Malton Community Primary School, has donated 50 high-vis snap wristbands to its pupils as it encourages families to leave their car keys at home and journey to school on foot.
The annual initiative is intended to promote healthy living and reduce the number of cars being used to take children to school and causing congestion and air pollution.
Spokeswoman Debbie Whittingham said: “Walking is a great way to keep children active and we hope our wristbands will add some fun to the journey while keeping them safe on the way.”
