Evo-Stik Division One North: Colwyn Bay 1 Tadcaster Albion 1

JOSH Barrett struck four minutes from time to ensure that Tadcaster Albion returned from north Wales with a point.

Brewers manager Michael Morton made just the one change to the Buildbase FA Trophy defeat to Glossop North End as Cam Murray replaced Conor Sellars.

In a sunny yet blustery afternoon, the home side started the contest on top, causing problems from set-pieces.

Fittingly the Seagulls then broke the deadlock inside 20 minutes from a corner when Louis Barnes peeled off to the back post and headed the ball to his namesake Sam Barnes who, after several bites at the cherry, eventually scrambled it into the back of the net.

The Brewers squandered a glorious chance to equalise two minutes later.

Tom Corner's half-volley was saved by Matt Cooper, but only pushed into the path of Aiden Savory, who side-footed the ball onto a post.

Half an inch to the right and the score would have been 1-1.

A minute later, Pete Davidson broke out of midfield and surged at Bay's back-line before sliding in Murray, but his heavy touch took it into the keeper.

The wind was a pain for both sides as the constant gusts disrupted any aerial balls.

Greg Hartley has proved to be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks for the visitors and showed this again just after the half-hour.

Jack Hindle played a neat one-two with Danny Andrews before volleying ferociously on target, but a confident Hartley caught the ball firmly.

Albion almost drew level on the stroke of half-time with one of their scrambled corner goals, with Milne unable to stretch enough to divert the ball goalwards.

The Brewers came out in the second half with a greater hunger and urgency.

Milne was close to getting on the end of a set-piece once again, but this time a Laurence Hunter free-kick was well defended.

At this point, there was only one team looking like scoring as Taddy went incredibly close once again, the spin of the ball this time keeping Bay at bay.

Murray's cross set-up a 50-50 between goalkeeper Cooper and Corner.

Both players went for the ball, and Corner ricocheted it beyond the keeper only for it to spin off the line and onto a post.

The only controversial moment came halfway through the second half when Bay's Luke Horrocks raised his hands and struck Savory on the head, only for a yellow card to be issued.

Hartley never had to make anything other than a couple of routine saves, the stand-out one being to deny Andrews' low, fizzing effort.

But just as time looked to be running out, Taddy got a deserved goal.

With chances few and far between, it was another set-piece that proved the best way to goal as Barrett stuck out a leg and guided Josh Greening's free-kick past Cooper and over the line.

If there had been five or ten minutes more, the Brewers you would have fancied for victory, but a draw was probably a fair result.
