A FIRE is believed to have been started deliberately in a shop doorway in York city centre this morning.
Fire crews were called to the scene in High Ousegate at about 4.55am and put out the flames outside the Ann Summer shop.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire fire service said rubbish had been set alight, and the heat fractured the shop window.
Crews used a hosereel to put out the fire.
A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman added that the force is treating the fire as arson and an investigation is ongoing.
