POLICE officers need a good relationship with the communities they serve if they’re to be able to take the fight against crime to the criminals. That’s because they so often rely on the information local people provide to build cases. And they are only going to get that information if they are trusted.
So activities that help build trust are vital. One such will take place this Sunday - a seven-a-side football tournament organised by local police. Teams taking part will include York Mosque, York City Football Foundation - and the police themselves.
This is great to see. Not so much bobbies on the beat, as a chance to beat your local bobby in a game of football. And get to know him or her along the way...
