YORK rockers Shed Seven treated pupils to a surprise concert - and possibly the band's only home-city gig since reforming.
After getting back together earlier this month the band announced dates for a one-off greatest hits tour - but due to the lack of a big enough venue they won't be playing in York.
So dropping into Poppleton Road Primary School was extra special and pupils had the added bonus of seeing front man Rick Witter together with guitarist Paul Banks. Rick said: "It was great to play with Paul again. The last time we physically played on stage was eight years ago and it went really well."
"We played at the school as a favour to a friend and treat for the kids in their last week of school before the holidays. Some of the pupils are really big fans of the group and have all our CDs and we thought it would make a great farewell."
"We did an acoustic set of Chasing Rainbows, Going for Gold and On Standby and we were really impressed the kids knew all the words."
