I REFER to your piece entitled "Taking a trip back in time" (The Press, July 13).

It seems to be implied that Let No Wheels Turn is a totally original work by the schools involved.

In the interests of giving credit where it is due, it is only fair to point out that a book carrying the same title and covering the same events was published last year.

The author is Margaret Hutcherson, from whom I received my copy. An acknowledgement to the original author would seem to be appropriate, both in The Press and at the performance of the play.

* As the author of the recently published Let No Wheels Turn - The Wrecking of the Flying Scotsman, I was delighted to be asked to attend the National Railway Museum (NRM) as a guest for the performance of the students from Manor CE School for their adaptation of my book.

I attended the press call, the two rehearsals and the final performance in the evening at the Great Hall at the museum, an event which literally led me to tears.

To hear and see my words come to life was extremely moving. The students did my book proud, as it would have been for my grandfather to whom the book is dedicated.

In these days of negativity by many of today's youth it was wonderful to see a project so well rehearsed and performed by a group of positive, enthusiastic children All praise and credit must go to their drama teacher, and staff at the NRM for their work in bringing this group of plays to fruition.

My book is available from: M Hutcherson, PO Box 450, Torquay, TQ1 9AZ, for £6, whch includes postage and packing.

Margaret Hutcherson.
