Everyone from pirates to young children raised a cuppa as they took part in the annual World's Greatest Coffee Morning for MacMillan Cancer Support.
At Tranquil Hair and Beauty Salon, in York, two mothers who have survived cancer, Kathleen Shilleto and Susan Bee, manned the kettles to keep customers supplied with coffee and cakes at the salon, which is run by their daughters Colette Cross and Wendy Heywood.
“I feel quite passionate about it,” said owner Colette about MacMillan Cancer Support.
The salon in Albemarle Road, South Bank, York raised £152 in the event. It is the second time the salon has joined in the annual coffee morning.
Other coffee mornings in and around York included 82 pupils at Naburn School raising £245, Vangarde Shopping Centre raising £8,500 and a further event at Bishopthorpe Village Hall.
