DETECTIVES investigating the stabbing of a 13-year-old boy at a traditional country show today appealed for help from show-goers.

The boy suffered a puncture wound to his abdomen during the incident, which happened at 11.15am yesterday, at Driffield Show.

Humberside Police said the boy went to a first aid tent, and an ambulance was called which took him to Hull Royal Infirmary with what was a non life-threatening injury.

A spokeswoman said a 14-year-old and a 13-year-old boy, both from Driffield, had been arrested on suspicion of assault and were taken to Bridlington Police Station to be interviewed.

The stabbing is thought to have happened near a giant bouncy castle at the edge of the showground.

A witness said she saw police officers standing among some trees in the area behind the castle.

Scenes of crime officers went to the showground as an investigation was launched.

Detective Inspector Gerry Darling said he wanted to speak to anyone who was near to the bouncy castle at around the time of the incident, and who might be able to help with enquiries.
