A TEENAGER from Selby district is bidding to be Miss Teen Queen 2007.

Meganne Summer, 17, of Foxdale Avenue, in Thorpe Willoughby, entered the contest last year at the Clothes Show Live and was invited to London for a photo shoot in April.

She said: "It wasn't until the train ride there I started to get nervous, mum was asleep on my shoulder, but I couldn't sleep, all I could think about is what people keep telling me: keep smiling, do what the photographer tells you, show your personality'.

"Then we pulled up at Kings Cross, my heart was going ten to the dozen. We then had to get a taxi to Fairlight studios.

"When we finally got there and stood outside, I thought it was a joke, it looked like a semi-detached house; I was imagining a glamorous building.

"When we got inside I didn't recognise anyone on the walls, but there was this one girl, she had a crown on and she was wearing a sash saying Miss England and I remember thinking to myself: I want to be just like her'."

If she wins, Meganne will get to travel around the country and overseas in her role as Miss Teen Queen, and she will also receive a wardrobe of clothing and beauty products.

She is now down to the last 50 contestants but needs your vote to be in with a chance of winning.
