York's late scorecard gave Poppleton two more points with a 48-60 result in division one of the Tyke Petroleum Men's Tennis League.
The result was based on 31 games from John Moore and Rob Jones.
Dunnington's extra win, 68-40 against Copmanthorpe, moved them into first place on games.
Bubwith, already ten points off the lead, beat bottom team Strensall 62-46.
Starbeck's draw against Sutton-on-Derwent took them top of division two.
They have played four matches more than Boston Spa in second place, who beat Poppleton 2 57-51 to retain their unbeaten record.
Dunnington 2 had a win against Wigginton, as Kevin Todd and Mike Taylor scored 25.
Fulford's 82-26 win at Cawood in division three suggests good seasons to come as Govind Baker and Ben Robinson scored 31.
