WE asked for your memories of The Bay Horse pub in Marygate, York, following news that it looked set to finally be consigned to the history books.

Reader Dawn Lambert got in touch, and wrote: "Every Monday my friend Catherine and myself used to go there on our way home from college and play pool with the juke box blaring all afternoon. We had some good times in there."

Another poster on our website joked: "Ahh, The Bay Horse, what fond memories I have of drinking in there - admittedly I should have been revising for my GCSEs but you can't have everything!"

Pictures spark riddle for couple

FOUR pictures have sparked a mystery in Dringhouses - and one that the Diary will try to help solve.

The pictures were sent anonymously to John and Vinda Spence, of Dringthorpe Road, Dringhouses, and show two young girls riding horses.

However, Mr and Mrs Spence have no idea who the girls are, or why they have been sent the pictures - and are worried that parents or grandparents will be missing the pictures.

Both girls are blonde, on horseback and wearing black hard hats. The pictures were posted from an address in York in a white envelope with a clear window, with no explaining note at all.

Anyone who is missing the pictures or knows of their rightful owners should phone Mr and Mrs Spence on 01904 706642.
