AFTER the final series of matches were wiped out by rain, the York Junior Team Tennis presentation ceremony was staged at Poppleton Tennis Club, writes Ralph Shepherd.
The season began after the Easter break in April and finished at the end of June. The matches were played at each other's clubs and schools once a week.
Faye Garland represented the Fulford Under-18 team which won the league after winning seven out of their eight matches.
The Poppleton U14 boys posted six wins out of six, while the club's U14 girls also gained maximum points to take their respective titles.
Said match secretary Rena Boorman: "This year's competition was played to a high standard. I think the players get better every year. I don't see why we can't produce a Wimbledon champion."
