FIFTY years ago York Minster's Central Tower was in danger of falling down.
The Yorkshire Evening Press reported in 1967 that the Minster's 197ft Central Tower could collapse within 15 years unless the foundations were improved.
A £2 million appeal was launched to help save the cathedral.
