CLARENCE Gardens have retained their Green Park status as a top quality outdoor space.

The park on Haxby Road learnt yesterday it had kept the accolade, which recognises public open spaces that have the highest possible environmental standards, are beautifully maintained and have excellent visitor facilities.

The result is a testament to the hard work of council staff and volunteer friends groups who look after the park, Cllr Nigel Ayre said.
