HATS off to Rose Belinda LLP, millinery manufacturer of The Granary, Tockwith, which uses ancient tools to produce modern results, and is expecting a 400 per cent increase in turnover this year.
The firm, founded five years ago by John Lee and Sue Mackintosh, manufactures hat accessories and hat and garment trims for the special occasion ladies' wear market.
Now, with ten staff, more than 460 active accounts in the UK, and exports to Ireland, Malta, Australia and North America, the firm is pitching for both the Small Business Of The Year and the International Trade Award in The Press Business Of The Year Awards 2007.
John says: "Being part of York allows us to exploit its history, and to keep traditional skills alive and relevant to today."
