A PERSON has been treated for smoke inhalation after a fire destroyed a tumble dryer at a York home this afternoon.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said the blaze started in the dryer in an understairs cupboard at a property in Tang Hall Lane.
A spokesman said the cupboard was badly damaged by fire and there was further heat and smoke damage on the first floor. He said an ambulance was called to treat the casualty.
The fire was believed to have been caused by overheating, he added.
Pictures tweeted by firefighters who tackled the blaze showed the destroyed machine and a charred door to the cupboard.
The crew member tweeted: "Amazing the amount of damage inside compared to outside the room."
