THERE are lots of reasons why 24-year-old Dan Savage's Artstop Studios, in York, has become such a success with its architectural glass art for modern buildings.

But one of them was the testicular cancer, with which he was diagnosed while studying for his masters in architectural glass.

He took an entire term out of his studies for chemotherapy but he said the shock intensified creative passion and his determination to succeed.

Dan has been nominated in the Young Entrepreneur of the Year category in The Press Business Awards 2007 and is in huge and growing demand for his designs on flat or curved glass, from wall panels and windows to large-scale glass installations.

In March, he completed his largest installation so far: a series of 19 free-standing glass screens and an external glass balustrade for the new Eldon Square bus station in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
