WITH regard to the letter from Michael MacKay regarding litter in (The Press, April 17), as far as I am aware the boxes provided by City of York Council for recycling items were issued with either a hard lid or a net to ensure that contents were kept dry or contained within the box.
Surely one cannot castigate the council if some people cannot be bothered to use the box lids or overfill their wheelie bin.
I am sure that the teams of bin lorry and men will be on a tight schedule to finish their rounds each day. Stopping to clear up after careless people and flytippers would seriously delay their progress.
I am fully satisfied with the refuse and recycling service provided to me by the City of York Council.
Well done.
