ARTISTS from across York will be showcasing their skills on two weekends.

York Open Studios 2017 will be held from April 21-23 and 29 and 30 - with more than 100 artists and makers inviting visitors to their studios and workshops.

There are nearly 80 venues for people to visit, from the city centre to the surrounding villages. They range from ordinary houses to community spaces and historic landmarks.

This year’s Open Studios event features painters, ceramicists, jewellery makers, photographers, sculptors. wood carvers, multi-media artists and a variety of other creative people.

Among them is Harriet McKenzie who lives in Shipton Street and is a visual artist specialising in drawing, ceramics and painting. Her latest series of ceramic work is called ‘Time Beings’. Last year, about 7,000 people visited venues across the city as part of the event.
