ANNE Platt has been keeping successive Lord Mayors of York organised for years. She’s the smiling face behind the scenes, who manages their diaries.
She’s now bringing that same cheerful competence to tackling an even bigger challenge - cancer.
Anne, 45, was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer last month - just months after her mum died of ovarian cancer. She’s refusing to let the disease take control of her life, however.
Instead of waiting for her hair to fall out because of the chemotherapy, she had her head shaved to raise money for York Against Cancer. Tackling the disease scalp on, she calls it. Good for you, Anne.
