FIRST-half goals from Gregg Anderson, Conor Sellars and Tom Corner put Tadcaster Albion in control in their Evo-Stik Division One North clash at Brighouse Town before the home side recovered from 3-1 down to salvage a point.

The Brewers took the lead after two minutes, Anderson impressively volleying home from a teasing Sellars free-kick for his second in two games.

However, less than a minute later the home side were level, former Mossley striker Mike Fish jumping on a loose ball and delicately flicked it beyond Chandler Hallwood.

Town were inches away from taking the lead shortly after, with Liam Shepherd working wonders to block Fish's effort on the line and scramble the ball to safety.

Moments after, the Brewers had an effort of their own hacked out of the six-yard box, with Corner coming close.

Taddy, expansive in attack, reaped their rewards by taking the lead in the 17th minute, courtesy of the outstanding Sellars, who chested the ball into an empty net after good hold-up play from Corner and a perfect set-up from Rob Youhill.

Albion, looking dangerous every time they ventured into Town's half, almost made it 3-1 via Stewart's outrageous strike that was tipped onto the bar by Tommy Taylor.

Taddy did increase their lead six minutes before half-time though, with top-scorer Corner netting his 14th of the campaign.

Sellars' clearance allowed Corner to chase in behind, beat Sam Hewitt for pace and trickery before driving through the legs of Taylor.

The home side should have gone into the break a goal behind but Ben Atkinson glanced wide from six yards.

However, they did reduce the deficit two minutes into the second half, with the Brewers losing the ball cheaply on halfway, which led to Ben Wharton getting the better of Thirkell and squaring for Tom Haigh to tap in.

The goal certainly galvanised the home side as Hallwood had to be at his best to tip over Fish's close-range header.

The referee tended to favour the home side, and no more so than in the 71st minute when Stewart rounded Taylor and crossed for Corner, whose header was cleared with what looked like Kurt Harris' arm.

It also looked as though the defender was a couple of steps beyond the goal-line.

The controversy wasn't finished though as eight minutes later former Manchester United midfielder Jono Greening burst from his own half before outpacing Adam Field and seeming to be brought down by Harris.

Again, the referee was unmoved, and Brighouse equalised six minutes from time, with Shaw deftly flicking in Thomas Dugdale's free-kick at the near post.

In the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division, Harrogate Railway Athletic lost 8-1 at Hemsworth Miners' Welfare, Stephen Bromley having put the visitors ahead in the eighth minute, while in Division One, Selby Town drew 0-0 at home to Ollerton Town and Colin Heath equalised for Knaresborough Town in a 1-1 draw at home to Penistone Church.

In Vanarama National League North, Harrogate Town were heading for a 0-0 draw at Kidderminster Harriers when Andre Brown won it for the hosts in the 87th minute.
