FUNDING of £5,300 has been granted to a North Yorkshire oral history project.
Scarborough Museums Trust (SMT) and Yorkshire Coast Homes (YCH) have received a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) Sharing Heritage grant for their Outside The Box project.
The project will take place in 10 locations across Scarborough and Filey, and has been given £5,300 to buy iPads for people to record memories as part of an inter-generational reminiscence project.
Project leader Emily Nelson said: “We really hope that with Outside The Box, we’re paving the way for a new model of reminiscence, whilst also helping to reduce social isolation and building intergenerational links.”
Stephanie Lake, from Yorkshire Coast Homes, said: “We’re very much looking forward to this opportunity to build on the success of our pilot series of Outside the Box sessions.
“The introduction of an intergenerational aspect to the project, along with the promise of an exhibition to round the scheme off, is particularly exciting for everyone involved.”
