YORK Theatre Royal says it is curtain up for people wanting to hire out its Grade II listed De Grey Ballroom for parties, weddings, conferences and other events, such as Christenings.
A spokeswoman said the recently renovated 1840s ballroom and De Grey Cocktail Bar in St Leonard’s Place had a special sprung floor and a rich history of dining and dancing.
“The York Theatre Royal’s wardrobe and costume hire department is just down the corridor in The Oak Room,” she said.
“Surrounded by beautiful 19th century George Townsend Andrews-designed décor – and with space for up to 160 guests, or 120 for a formal dinner – guests can enjoy dancing, drinking and dining where generations before have been entertained under the stunning Italian designed chandeliers.”
“This charming and elegant venue has so much history, and has been an iconic part of York’s theatre scene for hundreds of years – and now offers a flexible space for parties, conferences, christenings or weddings.”
She added that an array of bespoke packages, with or without professional outside catering and drink options, would be available.
