SELBY Rotary Club has presented cheques to three local organisations – Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, Selby Scouts Association and Carlton Towers Cricket Club.
£12,000 was raised at a bonfire organised jointly by Carlton Towers and the Rotary Club in November, with the club’s share of the profits being £6,000.
Two of the organisations – the scouts and cricket club members – were involved on the night in helping to run the event, acting as marshals and car park attendants.
Hearing Dogs for the Deaf received £2,500, scouts £1,500, and Carlton CC £1,000, with £1,000 going to the Rotary Clubs local charity fund.
Rotary president William Bayston made the presentations last week at a dinner at Carlton Towers.
