GOALS from Dan Thirkell, Erico Sousa and Josh Greening steered Tadcaster Albion to a first home league victory since mid-October as they defeated Goole 3-0.

The Brewers started well and looked menacing as Sousa ignited early fear into the opposition by jinking and driving past four players before firing over the bar.

Despite the positive start from Billy Miller’s men, it was the visitors who came within a whisker of breaking the deadlock inside ten minutes.

Bobby Johnson stood over a free-kick from 25 yards and curled an exquisite strike only to see it crash off the inside of the post.

Tom Corner was back leading the line for Tadcaster, and the striker almost opened the scoring inside 20 minutes after cutting inside and curling agonisingly over.

There was no doubting that the home side were in the ascendency, but Goole were screaming for a penalty halfway through the half. Nathan Modest felt that Josh Barrett had impeded the forward but referee Jimmy Price waved away the strong protests.

Six minutes later however and Taddy did take the lead. Sousa got the better of his man once more to pick out Corner who teed up the onrushing Thirkell.

His blast towards goal was blocked by Richard Patterson but only back to the midfielder who passed the ball into bottom corner past Thomas Beaurepaire.

New Taddy goalkeeper Chandler Hallwood was called upon for the first time as half-time loomed. Former Leeds United youngster Sanchez Payne nipped in down the right-hand side but was denied from point blank range by Hallwood.

Into the second half and Taddy continued to dominate the contest.

After scoring his first goal for the club, Thirkell should have netted his second in the 56th minute when Sousa’s corner found its way to the midfielder at the back post – but he could only poke over the target.

Taddy deservedly doubled their lead shortly after the hour mark. Rob Youhill beat former Taddy man Steve Jeff and whipped a ball into the danger zone. Goole skipper Robert Constable did well to deny Josh Greening, only for Sousa to follow up and hammer into the back of the net.

The closest Goole came to finding the back of the net in the second half was when Jeff's shot flashed across the face of goal.

Nevertheless the three points were sealed 14 minutes from time when Josh Greening’s in-swinging corner curled straight into the far corner of the net.

Taddy came close to a fourth in the final stages, but Jordan Armstrong’s volley across the face of goal had just too much on it for the out-stretching Josh Greening.
