A KNIFEMAN threatened staff at a fast food shop but left empty handed.
North Yorkshire Police said the attempted robbery happened at the Subway shop in Gowthorpe, Selby, at about 8.30pm on Sunday.
A police spokesman said the man threatened a member of staff with a knife and demanded money from the till, but staff refused and he left the shop.
The suspect was white, in his mid-twenties to mid-thirties, over 5ft 7in tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black scarf covering his face, a black beanie hat with a black hooded top over the hat and long sleeves. He wore black gloves, black jeans and white trainers.
Police have urged anyone who was in the area between 8.25pm and 8.55pm and witnessed the incident or saw a man matching the suspect's description to phone 101, select option two and ask for York Serious Crime Team.
