FIREFIGHTERS have rescued a dog from York's River Foss.
The crew from York fire station used a ladder to pluck the boxer dog from the river off Ramsey Close early this evening, and it was safely re-united with its owner.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said the animal had got out of its home and was seen barking in the water by passersby, who threw in a life ring in an attenpt to help it.
